National Actors’ Day on September 8 is about celebrating how actors make us feel when they play our favorite characters and how they help us appreciate the art form as a whole. This day is celebrated in the U.S. to honor the actors who give their talent, time, and energy just to entertain us. It recognizes not only the big stars, but also the artists who have portrayed roles in media such as film, T.V., or theater. We recognize the work of those in this profession, so it’s good to take a day to value their amazing work. Recognizing the work of these artists can make more of a difference than we may realize.
International Day Commemorating the Victims of Acts of Violence Based on Religion or Belief

The International Day Commemorating the Victims of Acts of Violence Based on Religion or Belief is held every year on August 22. On this day, the international community honors the survivors and victims of religious-based violence. Despite living in the 21st century, there are parts of the world where people still have no freedom to practice their religious beliefs. From insidious groups to state governments, everyone uses religion to stoke fear of the ‘other.’ People from different faiths are routinely labeled security threats. Religion becomes an excuse to justify misogyny, homophobia, and racism — extending to official policies and laws. Religious stigmatization is often the root cause of discrimination in every sphere of life. Today, the world commits to protecting an individual’s right to freedom of religion. We have too many historical precedents of religious-based violence, and history cannot repeat itself.
National Authenticity Day

National Authenticity Day is celebrated on August 16 every year. This is the day of recognition of the power of authenticity, a term that goes beyond just “being yourself.” It is dedicated to people who decide to do things their way rather than simply check the box. They are not afraid to show off their features, their way of life, which may seem strange to some, and their unusual clothes. National Authenticity Day will be a day to celebrate and showcase the most unique and authentic version of yourself, as well as be bold and a little cool (well, a lot is also absolutely allowed).
