National Daylight Appreciation Day

National Daylight Appreciation Day

On National Daylight Appreciation Day, June 21, we get to enjoy the longest period of sunlight that we will experience in the entire year. It is also the day of the summer solstice, and there will be no other day with as much sunlight as this one — although this does not apply to the extreme northern and southern portions of the planet. On June 21 every year, the sun spends the longest time in the sky and provides us with long hours of sunlight and warmth. National Daylight Appreciation Day celebrates this annual celestial event.

World Bipolar Day

World Bipolar Day is observed on March 30 every year, on the birthday of Dutch painter Vincent van Gogh — one of the most influential artists in the history of Western art. His creativity was paralleled with his mental illness and he was posthumously diagnosed with bipolar disorder. Bipolar disorder dramatically affects the mood and may result in episodes of depression and elation, which can affect one’s health, productivity, and relationships. World Bipolar Day educates and promotes the spread of information on bipolar disorder through international collaborative efforts.

Canada’s National Indigenous Peoples Day

Canada’s National Indigenous Peoples Day gives us a chance to recognize the many achievements of the country’s Indigenous peoples. The day also celebrates the distinct cultures and unique traditions of these native communities. Three Indigenous peoples groups exist in Canada: the Inuit, First Nations, and Metis. Recent statistics put their population at just under 1.7 million. Festivities celebrating National Indigenous Peoples Day are held all throughout Canada every year on June 21.
