National Intern Day

America celebrates National Intern Day on the last Thursday in July. This year, it takes place on July 31. Interns have always been an integral part of the American workforce. Interns are often trusted with responsibilities such as filing important documents, making calls, or assisting someone who’s been in the field for a long time — essentially learning the ropes of the business. An intern is typically someone who’s still in college or has recently graduated. Although it’s not entirely uncommon to see school children taking up internships either, as long as the minimum working age is observed. Along with a source of income, an internship is a great way to learn more about the industry that one might be interested in. A good internship may also be a great stepping stone to a fulfilling career.

National Wing Day

Waterfalls of ranch dressing? Check. Gobs of blue cheese? Check. Napkins? Check. An insatiable hunger for the ultimate party food, complete with a willingness to eat far beyond your comfort level? Definitely! Well then, you’re ready to take on National Chicken Wing Day on July 29. Oh, and don’t forget the full bottle of antacids.

Originally relegated to the far corners of the kitchen as material for chicken stock, chicken wings were born when the owners of the Anchor Bar in Buffalo cooked up a midnight snack for their son and his friends. Using only fried wings, butter, and hot sauce, they stumbled on a dish that would change American game day gastronomy forever. So this July 29, make them sweet, spicy or any way you want, but raise a glass and down a few wings to celebrate.

Note: We can thank previous Buffalo mayor, Stan Makowski, for giving us one of the most celebrated food holidays of the summer.

National Refreshment Day

National Refreshment Day takes place on the fourth Thursday in July and will be celebrated on July 24 this year. The day draws our attention to the much-needed destressing activities we need to do for peace of mind and a healthy body. The 21st-century life, with all the technology and daily grind, leaves many of us feeling drained and exhausted to the point that even lifting a finger seems like the biggest chore. Moreover, the summer heat has got us all feeling lethargic, and just wanting the cool embrace of air-conditioning. However, apart from air-conditioning, you can also cool down and refresh yourself by indulging in refreshing drinks. For that reason, this holiday was made as a way to promote summer drinks, like beer or lemonade. Once you refresh yourself, you can be more productive and better able to carry out your day’s activities.
