National Knife Day

On National Knife Day on August 24, we celebrate one of humankind’s very first tools. This is the day to appreciate the knives that we use on a daily basis. Knives have been made of bone, stone, and flint, and today, they are made using titanium, bronze, iron, and steel. We use knives for cooking, eating, fishing, hunting, and a host of other tasks. The day is celebrated by showing off your chopping skills, buying a new set of knives, and even comparing and swapping your knives with other like-minded people. Doesn’t matter if you are a skilled fisherman or a chef, National Knife Day is a celebration for everyone who’s ever used the tool.

Valentino Day

Although the era of monochrome movies is long gone, Valentino Day takes place on August 23 and is here to stay, providing an opportunity to celebrate one of the leading faces in the movie industry. Rudolph Valentino was a 1920s film star who passed away on August 23, 1926. Movies like “The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse,” “The Eagle,” “The Sheik,” “Blood and Sand,” and “The Son of the Sheik” are some of the legacies he left behind.

Never Bean Better Day

Never Bean Better Day is on August 22, and it gives us the perfect opportunity to enjoy and spread some Bean ‘wuv’ with our canine companions and others. By loving us unconditionally to being our listening ears and cuddle buddies, our furry friends have always upheld their reputable position as man’s best friend, and are ever ready to be our life-long companions. Registered therapy dogs like Bean, share their ‘wuv’ at hospitals, schools, reading programs, behavioral therapy group sessions, domestic violence, and homeless shelters, long-term care and Alzheimer’s units, and anyone else who is in need of an emotional facelift.
