Zoë Kravitz

Background

Zoë Isabella Kravitz was born in Venice, Los Angeles, as the only child of her parents — musician Lenny Kravitz and actress Lisa Bonet. When she was five years old, her parents divorced. She would later come to have two younger siblings from her mother’s second marriage to the actor Jason Momoa. Kravitz graduated from high school in 2007. In the same year, she started studying at the State University of New York but left in 2008 to pursue a film career in Brooklyn.

Even though Kravitz only became widely famous years after, she had her acting debut while in high school in the 2007 romantic comedy “No Reservations.” In 2011, she received her earliest breakthrough acting as Angel Salvadore in “X-Men: First Class.” Three years later, her fame exploded when she starred as Christina in “Divergent” (2014). She starred as the same character in the two sequels of the Sci-Fi movie “Insurgent” (2015) and “Allegiant” (2016). Kravitz cemented her Hollywood fame in the Harry Potter spin-off, “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them,” in 2016. In 2017, she was Bonnie Carlson in the HBO series “Big Little Lies” – an appearance that earned her two Black Reel Awards and a Screen Actors Guild Award. One of her most recent appearances was as Catwoman in the 2022 movie “The Batman.”

Kravitz is known for her acting career but is also a musician and model. She began making music at 16 years old and formed an earlier band, “Elevator Fight,” in 2009. She started another band, “Lolawolf,” in 2013. Kravitz launched a jewelry line in collaboration with the Swarovski Crystal company the same year. In 2019, Kravitz married her longtime fiance, actor Karl Glusman. However, she filed for divorce after less than two years, and in 2021 the marriage was officially terminated.
