Vince Vaughn

Background

Vince Vaughn was born Vincent Anthony Vaughn in Minneapolis, Minnesota, U.S., to parents Sharon DePalmo and Vernon Vaughn. His father was a salesman for a toy company, while his mother worked as a stockbroker and real estate agent. The “Bloomberg Wealth Manager” magazine named his mother as one of the country’s top money managers. Born to a Protestant father and a Catholic mother, young Vaughn was raised both Catholic and Protestant.

The actor grew up in Illinois’ Buffalo Grove, where he played baseball and football. He describes his younger self as a “very average” individual in high school sports. Later, he relocated to Lake Forest and graduated in 1988 from Lake Forest High School. At a young age, Vaughn was introduced to the world of musical theater and in 1987, he decided to pursue a career in acting.

In 1988, the actor appeared in a television commercial for the automobile company Chevrolet and subsequently moved to work in Hollywood. He then made an appearance in the 1989 season of the T.V. show “China Beach” and several C.B.S. specials in 1990. He landed his first film in the 1993 movie “Rudy,” in which he portrayed the character of Jamie O’Hara. Thereafter, he joined the cast of “77 Sunset Trip.” Major success came his way in 1996 when Vaughn was cast in “Swingers.” His next big gig was with Steven Spielberg in the blockbuster film “The Lost World: Jurassic Park.” Between 1998 and 2000, he made a name for himself by appearing in acclaimed dramas such as “Return to Paradise” and “Clay Pigeons.”
