Edward Bridge Danson III, better known as Ted Danson, was born on December 29, 1947, in San Diego, California. His father, Edward B. Danson, was an anthropologist. His mother, Jessica MacMaster, was an archaeologist. He was raised in Flagstaff, Arizona, where he grew up to become a passionate basketball player in college. Danson discovered his interest in acting as a stable future after he arrived at Stanford University. Soon after, he moved to Pittsburgh to finish his studies in 1972.

Danson played several supporting roles and one-time appearances in various T.V. series. Danson found his way to greater recognition once he starred in the N.B.C-produced “Cheers,” where he played a bartender who was also a former baseball player.
