Sebastian Stan, born on August 13, 1982, started his career as a kid with a small appearance in the 1994 film, “71 Fragments of a Chronology of Chance.” He then appeared in one episode of “Law & Order.” It was his role as Carter Baizen, however, in the teen drama, “Gossip Girl,” that won him fans. The role that catapulted him to fame however was the character of Bucky Barnes in the Marvel film, “Captain America: The First Avengers.” Since then, Stan has been taking notable roles and has quickly amassed a fan following. We’ll help you celebrate his special day right here.
Sebastian Stan has been attracting the attention of fans worldwide with his brilliant acting and his rugged good looks. While it took him a few small roles here and there, Stan got his big break playing Bucky Barnes in the Marvel film series and ever since then, he’s been making his mark in the industry.
Born on August 13, 1982, in Constanta, Romania, Stan then moved to Vienna, Austria, at age eight. By then his parents had been divorced for six years. At 12, Stan and his mother relocated to New York after his mother wed a school headmaster who worked in the United States. At first, integrating into high school was tough for the 12-year-old Romanian. He didn’t feel like he fit in, and the obvious accent didn’t help. That shy, insecure young boy has come a long way since then. Throughout his school years, he took part in school productions as well as camp productions. It was when he went to university at Rutgers University’s Mason Gross School of the Arts that he would get the chance to spend a year studying acting in London’s Shakespeare’s Globe Theater. While his first film appearance was in “71 Fragments of a Chronology of Chance,” Stan got his first real role in an episode of the drama series, “Law & Order” (2003). A few film appearances later and Stan got a recurring role on the hit series “Gossip Girl”: bad boy-turned-good, Carter Baizen (2007). His breakthrough role, however, was Marvel’s Bucky Barnes character in “Captain America: The First Avenger.” While he quickly climbed the ladder of Hollywood success, Stan was still financially struggling. In the next few years, Stan took roles in several hit series and films, including “Once Upon a Time”, “Captain America: Winter Soldier” (2014), and “I, Tonya” in 2017. That same year, he starred in the American drama, “I’m Not Here.”
From then on, the starring roles kept coming with the one that thrust him into the spotlight being Tommy, from the miniseries portraying parts of Pamela Anderson and Tommy Lee’s turbulent relationship, “Pam & Tommy” (2022). The series was well-received overall. Stan is very active with Our Big Day Out, a Romania-based nonprofit that helps underprivileged kids. As for his love life, the heartthrob has been linked to several women including his Gossip Girl co-star Leighton Meister, Dianna Agron, and he is currently dating Spanish actress Alejandra Onieva.
