Rose McGowan, born Rósa Arianna McGowan on September 5, 1973, is an actress and activist who resides in the United States. She was born in Florence, Italy to American parents. McGowan made her film debut in “Encino Man,” a comedy, which was released in 1992. She has achieved global recognition for her performance in “The Doom Generation,” a dark comedy thriller released in 1995. The movie was nominated for ‘Best Debut Performance’ at the Independent Spirit Awards. Rósa Arianna McGowan, nicknamed Rose, was born on September 5, 1973, in Florence, Italy to writer Terri McGowan and artist Daniel McGowan. Until 1978, Terri ran a chapter of the Children of God. McGowan spent much of her childhood at the commune and frequently visited other countries in Europe with her family. Her father’s career as an artist helped McGowan become a child model, and she appeared in “Vogue Bambini” and other Italian magazines.

The family relocated to the U.S. and settled in Eugene, Oregon, when McGowan was ten. Following the separation of her parents, she lived with her father in Seattle and attended Nova Alternative High School. During this time, she also worked at the local McDonald’s. She is a trained dancer and took ballet lessons till she was 13. However, when she was 15, she emancipated herself from her parents and relocated to Los Angeles.

Her role as Paige Matthews in the T.V. drama, “Charmed,” which aired from 2001 to 2006, made her a well-known name in the television industry. She starred in Quentin Tarantino’s double feature film titled “Grindhouse” (2007) and was nominated for the Saturn Awards for her role. She continued to feature in many action movies and became quite famous. She emerged as one of the most prominent voices during the “Me Too” movement and was also honored as one of the Silence Breakers and Time Magazine’s ‘Person of the Year’ in 2017 for speaking out against sexual harassment and assault, particularly about Harvey Weinstein.
