Post Malone is a household name the world over. Born in Syracuse, New York, Malone was raised by his father, Richard Post, and his stepmother, Jodie. In his younger years, Malone was introduced to music by his father, a D.J. in his youth. He left Tarrant County College to move to Los Angeles with his friends, where they formed the music group BLCKVRD. In 2015, he took to SoundCloud to release White Iverson, a solo song that received recognition from Mac Miller and Wiz Khalifa. Later that year, he was signed to Republic Records on a recording contract.

In 2016, Malone released his first mixtape, titled August 26th, which referenced his debut album release date.

The album, Stoney, was dropped late on December 9th.
