Background

Jessica Jane Lord is exceptionally good at what she does. She is a talented actress and dancer who is rising from the ground up. She was born on July 29, 1998, in Rochdale, England. Her family relocated to Toronto when she was six years old and that is where she spent most of her life. She went to O’Neill Collegiate and Vocational Institute which is in Oshawa and specialized in dance. The school is famously known for its performing and visual arts programs and that is why she chose it. She later enrolled at the Centennial College Theatre Arts and Performance. Her mother, Amanda, was a ballroom dancer and that is where she gets her inspiration from. She also has a younger brother named Daniel.

She is best known for her roles in “The Next Step” as Lola and “Find Me In Paris” as Lena Grisky. She has also been featured in “Paranormal Witness,” “Ransom” and “Party of Five” among others. Lord has appeared in the T.V. movie titled, “Cradle to Grave.” In 2013, in “Paranormal Witness,” she brought out the character of Marnie. In the same year, she had a minor role in “The Next Step” season three but in 2017, she became season five’s additional cast to “The Next Step” together with Milaina Robinson and she developed into a regular in her role as Lola. In 2018, she starred in the television series, “Find Me In Paris” as the character, Lena Grisky, through the choreographer of “The Next Step,” Amy Wright, but this however made it impossible for Lord to feature in season six of “The Next Step.” In 2019, she featured in one episode of “Ransom” and made an appearance in the pilot episode of “Party of Five” in 2020.

She made her on-screen debut in four episodes of “The Next Step” as a dancer in 2015. She started dancing at the age of four after being put in a ballroom class. Her passion grew and she later added jazz, hip-hop, and ballet to her collection. In the same year, she took part in a talent convention and impressed several agents and scouts. She later signed with Ray Miller, her Los Angeles-based manager at Archetype. Afterward, she joined Toronto’s Talent Agency, Edna Talent Management. She was the dance captain of the Summerford School of Dance before getting Lola’s role. Apart from earning as an actress and dancer, Lord has other revenue streams such as endorsements and partnerships with mega-brands. She is also a model part-time.
