Dove Cameron

Background

Within and outside Hollywood, Dove Cameron is a recognized name. With a petite stature, infectious smile, and angelic voice, there’s no way anyone can forget the beautiful actress and singer. She was born on January 15, 1996, in Bainbridge Island, Washington, to her acting coach mother, Bonnie Wallace, and her C.E.O. father, Philip Alan Hosterman. She’s the younger of two girls, and although she’s American, Cameron has French roots and is fluent in the language. Her interest in performing arts was piqued at age eight, when Cameron attended community theater at Bainbridge Performing Arts, B.P.A. A few years later, in 2010, her family moved to Los Angeles, California, where she enrolled and sang in her high school’s show choir; where her singing career commenced.

Cameron has had her fair share of hardship, from being bullied in school to losing her father at age 15 in 2011. Despite this, she’s managed to stay afloat and used her pain as fuel to perfect her craft. Cameron’s acting career took off shortly after moving to California. She was cast in 2012 in a Disney Channel comedy series called “Bits and Pieces.” The show was later renamed “Liv and Maddie,” and she played the dual lead role of “Liv and Maddie.” Cameron received multiple award nominations for her performance in these roles and finally won the Daytime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Performer in a Children’s Series in 2018. In 2013, she released a cover of Imagine Dragons’ song, ‘On Top of the World.’ This cover gained recognition at the Billboard Kid Digital Songs. Cameron released several works after this before releasing ‘Better in Stereo,’ which peaked at number one in 2013.

The superstar dropped songs, released movie soundtracks, and acted simultaneously. In 2015, she got a role in “Barely Lethal,” her first non-Disney movie, and in the same year, she formed a band called The Girl and the Dreamcatcher, with now ex-boyfriend, Ryan McCartan. Through this band, Cameron released several singles and E.Ps. The duo started dating but broke up in 2016, leading to the band’s disbandment. Cameron has been featured in “Descendants” (2017), “Mamma Mia” (2017), “Dumplin’” (2017), and “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D” (2017), just to name a few. She later signed with Columbia’s Disruptor Records label in 2018 to produce more movie soundtracks. Presently, Cameron is the voice of “Bubbles” in “Powerpuff Girls,” whose release date is yet to be announced.
