Angela Simmons

Background

Angela Renne Simmons was born and brought up in Queens, New York, U.S.A. She is the daughter of Joseph Simmons, popularly known as Rev Run who is a former rapper. He is also a key figure in hip-hop music and was one of the founders of the group, Run-DMC. Her mother’s name is Valerie Vaughn. Simmons has a younger brother named Joseph “Jojo” Simmons Jr. and an older sister, Vanessa. She is also the oldest of four half-siblings: Daniel Simmons III, Victoria Anne Simmons, Russell Simmons II, and Miley Justine Simmons. Unfortunately, her sister, Victoria, passed away shortly after birth.

She went to High School of Fashion Industries and then attended the Fashion Institute of Technology. However, after a period of one year, Simmons decided to drop out of school and redirect her career toward business. Given her familial links with hip-hop, she was no stranger to public attention. That said, she made a name for herself after appearing in the 2005 T.V. series “Run’s House,” which was based on her family. Thereafter, in 2006, Simmons took up the role of editor of “Angela’s Rundown” — a mini fashion magazine for teenagers. She continued to work with the magazine till it stopped getting published in 2012. Meanwhile, she continued to appear on the 2009 reality show “Daddy’s Girls,” which also featured her older sister.

Over the years, she appeared on a number of television reality shows and series, such as “Fashion News Live,” “Growing Up Hip Hop,” and “The Real.” She is an entrepreneur and fashion influencer, in addition to being an actress.
