National Death Busters Day

National Death Busters Day is observed annually on the Friday before Memorial Day and this year, it falls on May 22. Memorial Day honors all the men and women who served in the U.S. military but who have gone ahead of us. Most Americans troop to cemeteries or memorials, holding family gatherings and participating in parades. It also, though unofficially, marks the beginning of the summer season. The Memorial Day weekend has become notorious for being one of the most dangerous holidays to drive. The goal of National Death Busters Day is to remind us to be cautious and take extra care when driving.

Ascencion Day (Saint Martin)

Ascension Day in Saint Martin (Sint Maarten) is celebrated on the 40th day of Easter, that is, 39 days after Easter Sunday. This year, it will be observed on May 14. Also known as the Feast of the Ascension, Solemnity of the Ascension of Jesus Christ, or Ascension Thursday, the holiday commemorates the ascension of Jesus Christ into heaven 40 days after his resurrection. Its observance can be traced back to the 4th and 5th centuries. Although all Christians believe in the ascension of Jesus, the day is predominantly commemorated by Catholics and Anglicans.
