Slovenia Independence Day is observed on December 26 every year. It is celebrated to commemorate the day the Slovenian independence referendum was proclaimed in 1990. The referendum itself took place three days earlier on December 23 wherein 95% of the voters favored the establishment of an independent Slovene state.
