International Women’s Day

International Women’s Day (March 8) is a global day celebrating the historical, cultural, and political achievements of women. The day also observed in support of taking action against gender inequality around the world. We all know the world couldn’t run without women (we mean, just listen to Beyoncé). This is the day to appreciate their efforts! Organizations large and small come together to show women just how valuable they are in today’s society. Also make sure to help women around you find resources on scholarships available for women from around the world to help them spread their wings and fly higher.

 

National Employee Appreciation Day

Launched in 1995 by Workman Publishing, National Employee Appreciation Day, on March 6, reminds managers that strong employer-employee relations are at the core of any truly successful business. Having a great relationship with your employees is an important aspect of being a manager, and appreciating their efforts can go a long way towards making workers feel valued. Take some time on National Employee Appreciation Day to connect with your employees, offer authentic praise, and listen to their experiences. If you can, give your employees part of the day off, or treat them to a special lunch or group activity.

St. Piran’s Day

Known as the official holiday of Cornwall, St. Piran’s Day honors the patron saint of tin miners on March 5, an important industry in the region. Cornwall is in the southwesternmost peninsula in England and the homeland of the Cornish people. With a unique culture and language, Cornwall retains a strong sense of identity. St. Piran’s Day honors the legend of the saint who, after being thrown into the sea in Ireland, miraculously drifted ashore in Cornwall and blessed the local miners with the secrets of tin extraction. The holiday is celebrated with parades, re-enactments, and parties.
