Respect for the Aged Day

Our elders are our link to the past and what better way is there to honor them than on Respect for the Aged Day, celebrated on the third Monday in September, on September 15 this year? It is a Japanese festival celebrated on the third Monday of September of each year. It is a national holiday in Japan on which people celebrate by spending time with their elderly relatives and friends.

Chile Independence Day

The Chilean people are celebrating their Independence Day on September 18, and you are invited to the party! And what a party it is! Like most Latin American countries, the celebrations for the ‘Fiestas Patrias’, as it is called locally, include parades, nationwide holidays, and dancing, but Chile takes it up a notch higher, with celebrations that begin even before Independence Day.

Malaysia Independence Day

Malaysia Independence Day, also known as National Day or ‘Hari Merdeka’ in Malay is observed on August 31 and commemorates the Malayan Declaration of Independence of 31 August 1957. It is defined in Article 160 of the Constitution of Malaysia as the official independence day when it gained its freedom from the British colonial administration. Usually, the celebrations start from the beginning of August with various programs and national competitions. Owing to the celebrations, the month of August is also known as the National Month.
