At National Today, we are preparing our favorite snacks and reserving coveted spots for storytelling events this National Tell A Story Day on April 27. Stories have the undeniable quality of transporting us to another time and place as we sit snug in our seats. Stories are also great bonding material since people create memories as they immerse themselves in the storytelling activity. Whether they happened in real life or are a product of our imagination, stories form an interesting part of human society. In the old days, they were used as history recording tools as well as entertainment. From “Aesop’s Fables” and ancient Egypt’s hieroglyphics to modern-day Harry Potter, storytelling is no different today with the advent of shows, books, poetry, etc.
Babe Ruth Day
Celebrated by baseball fans all over the USA and the world, Babe Ruth Day is on April 27. Babe Ruth was and still is known as one of the best baseball players of all time. From hitting record after record and receiving many accolades, Ruth came to be known as ‘The Colossus of Clout’ and ‘The Sultan of Swat.’ He was a big star and inspiration to many youngsters but, when he was a youngster himself, he was rebellious and would constantly get into trouble. Due to this, he was sent to a Catholic reformatory and orphanage at the age of seven. However, nothing could stop Ruth’s talent as he went on to become one of the greatest baseball players to ever exist.

What better way is there to honor Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Month than by celebrating National Kids and Pets Day on April 26 each year? Born out of a need to raise awareness about picking the right pet for children, this day also celebrates the bond pets and children share and highlights safety tips where our pets and children are concerned.
