Introduction
Eclaire Minnitt was a supportive, thoughtful and simply rib-tickling teacher at Graveney School. In her students' eyes, she could do no wrong, despite throwing snowballs at them and chucking their books out of the window. The only bad decision she seems to have made was moving to Tokyo, where some lucky students will be blessed with her enthusiasm and encouragement. It's safe to say her abscence will be mourned deeply by all at Graveney.
Why We Love Miss Minnitt Day
She was always supportive
All her students know that Miss Minnitt will always be there for them. We've had our fair share of questions, comments, queries and concerns, but Miss Minnitt has always been someone to talk to.
She was always up for a gossip
Miss Minnitt stayed up-to-date on all the latest gossip, always excited to listen to the tea. She's always been ready for a gossip sesh, and convinced us she wouldn't tell a soul - not even Mr Komolafe!
She made us laugh
When around Miss Minnitt, it's difficult not to crack a smile. She brightens every room with her witty sense of humour, even if that mostly consists of mocking her (favourite) students.
Miss Minnitt Day Activities
Say "Good Ahfternoon" whenever you enter a room
The best way to remember Miss Minnitt is to channel her soul, saying her most mocked catchphrase "Good ahfternoon" (in a thick northern accent). This is especially effective when accompanied by a ritual of requesting for Maryam to put her iPad away.
Visit Cockermouth
As Eclaire has made abundantly clear, she grew up near the small town of cockermouth. A wonderful way to remember the blissful years spent with her is to visit this town - extra points if you perform "Mr Boombastic" to a local.
Drink Captain Kombucha
This is one of Miss Minnitt's favourite pastimes. Although it is too alcoholic to consume in school, that doesn't stop her! Whilst the brand can vary, it must be in a can, in order to channel the authentic Miss Minnitt experience.
Miss Minnitt Day timeline
On the first day of school in 2020, Eclaire met her favourite group of students and instantly felt a bond. She has created treasured memories with them ever since, asking for decorum and getting angry about some leaves.
This was the first Graveney production after Covid, and for many of Miss Minnitt's students their first memory of a school play. It was a huge success, thanks to the amazing work of Miss Minnitt and the drama teachers.
Throughout the 2022-2023 school year, Miss Minnitt conducted group therapy sessions every Tuesday in the form of putting together a rather emotional production about the teenage mind. These lunchtimes doubled as gossip sessions and the occasional dance party.
For many, being in "Oliver!" was when they first met Miss Minnitt, although she may not have made the best first impression by shouting about the mess backstage. It was a remarkable production that created long-lasting memories.
In an evening of fun under the pretense of "work", Miss Minnitt and her favourite students made the treacherous journey to the Duchess Theatre, to watch "The Play That Goes Wrong". Little did her students know, Eclaire was making a huge sacrifice: she had already seen this play.
The production of "A Midsummer 90's Dream" was bittersweet, the joy of a school play tainted by the imminent loss of one of our most treasured teachers.
