Tate McRae

Background

Tate Rosner McRae, or Tate McRae, is a vocal artist, songwriter, and dancer. She was born on July 01, 2003, in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, to a Scottish father and a German mother. The family moved to Oman when she was very young because of her father’s work. She attended The American International School in Muscat and started recreational dance training when she was six. This led her to more intense dance training after returning to Calgary at eight. It was also the first time she took part in a dance competition. When she was 11 years old, she started taking dance classes in all styles at the Y.Y.C. Dance Project, a dance company owned by her mother. She also started taking ballet lessons at the School of Alberta Ballet, which serves as the training ground for the Alberta Ballet Company. For academics, she went to Western Canada High School.

She began voice acting in 2013 when she voiced Spot Splatter Splash for the Lalaloopsy franchise. This was while she was taking her dancing to the next level with dance competitions. She received the Mini Best Female Dancer in New York, at the 2013 Dance Awards. This led to her becoming the ambassador for Capezio, an American dance manufacturer. In 2015, she received a two-week scholarship for the Berlin State Ballet company after bagging the silver medal as a soloist and a bronze for her duet at the 2015 Youth America Grand Prix.

In 2017, she took to Youtube and started “Create With Me,” a video series that focused on the original songs that she had written and recorded. Her first song, ‘One Day,’ went viral and amassed over 37 million views, which encouraged her to repackage and release it as an independent single. R.C.A. Records spotted the same and pursued a recording deal. In March 2022, she dropped ‘Chaotic,’ the third single from the record. In May, she released ‘What Would You Do?’ as her fourth single.
