Background

Joseph Mark Garrett, or Stampy, has become a household name in the entertainment industry. His gaming content and amazing personality have won the hearts of millions worldwide. Garrett was born in Portsmouth, United Kingdom, on December 13, 1990. He is the son of Katherine and Mathy Garrett.

Garrett started his career in 2006 with his YouTube channel ‘stampylongnose.’ The channel, which began as a live-action comedy channel, quickly transitioned into gaming content after “Let’s Play” went viral on the platform. He started a new channel titled ‘stampylonghead’ where he started a new “Let’s Play” series that consisted mainly of Minecraft content. This series was instrumental in his early success on YouTube, which made him quit his job as a barman to create content full-time. Garrett doesn’t produce his content alone. He is helped by people referred to as ‘Garrett helpers,’ which include Sqaishey Quack, a character played by his spouse, and iBallisticSquid, or David Spencer, Garrett’s friend. In April 2015, in collaboration with Maker Studios, Garrett launched “Wonder Quest,” an edutainment YouTube series to be used in classrooms. In 2015, Garrett starred in the Disney X.D. “Gamer’s Guide to Pretty Much Everything,” where he played the role of Stampy Cat at the World Gaming Championships. He was also a panelist featured at MINECON in London. In July 2016, he released the book “Stampy Cat: Stick with Stampy!” which featured games, jokes, posters, and other activities.

Garrett first met his spouse in 2014 while making YouTube videos, and the duo got engaged in July 2018. On July 28, 2019, Garrett married Bethany Bates, who is also a YouTuber known as ‘Sqaishey Quack.’
