Keke Palmer

Background

Lauren Keyana Palmer was born on August 26, 1993, in Harvey, Illinois, U.S. She has African-American ethnicity. Her parents were professional actors before having Palmer and settling for full-time jobs. Her mom, Sharon Palmer, works as a teacher for kids with autism. Her dad, Larry Palmer, works for a polyurethane company. Palmer’s parents’ background in the arts led her to pursue a career in acting and singing from a young age. Palmer has one brother and two sisters. Palmer attended Rickover Jr. High School and St. Benedict School and did some years of homeschooling.

Palmer had her first role in the movie industry in 2004 — she played the niece of Queen Latifah in “Barbershop 2: Back in Business.” She had some prominent roles that made her a child star actress. She worked on “Madea’s Family Reunion” (2006), “Jump In!” (2007), “The Longshots” (2008), and “Shrink” (2009). Palmer worked on several Nickelodeon projects. She played the main character in “True Jackson, V.P.,” from 2008 to 2011. She participated in the Nickelodeon original film, “Rags,” a modern version of the classic “Cinderella.” Later on in her career, Palmer concentrated on more mature roles. She participated in Ryan Murphy’s “Scream Queens” from 2015 to 2016. She was in the drama series “Berlin Station” from 2017 to 2019. Her many successful acting roles made her a holder of a Primetime Emmy Award, a Young Artist Award, and a B.E.T. Award. From 2019 to 2020, Palmer co-hosted the talk show “Strahan, Sara and Keke” alongside Sara Haines and Michael Strahan. Palmer is a talented singer and songwriter. In 2005 she signed a deal with Atlantic Records. In 2007 she released her debut album, “So Uncool.” The album had strong contemporary R&B influences and was mostly teen-oriented. Palmer also has three E.P.s, “Lauren” (2016), “Virgo Tendencies, Pt. 1” (2019), and “Virgo Tendencies, Pt. 2” (2020). Among Palmer’s most recent projects, she is set to do the voice of Izzy in the “Toy Story” spinoff, “Lightyear.”

Palmer started dating Rodney King in 2010. The couple was going to get married after three years of dating, but they decided to call it off. Palmer dated actor and singer Quincy Brown, but they broke up in 2017. Palmer is currently presumed single.
