Lawrence grew up in Louisville, Kentucky, with her two older brothers, Blaine Lawrence and Ben Lawrence, with her eyes on becoming a doctor when she got older. They grew up on their parent’s farm, just outside the city, and she was a very athletic child, involved in cheerleading, field hockey, and softball but never dreamt of becoming one of the highest-paid actresses in Hollywood years later. Her mother, Karen, manages a children’s camp, and her father, Gary Lawrence, works in construction. Lawrence was on a family vacation in New York when someone asked her to take her picture, took her mother’s number, and called them the next day to do a screen test.
