Harrison Ford is a well-renowned American actor of Irish and Jewish descent, best recognized for his iconic film roles and projects since the 1980s. His charisma, versatility, and engagement in the creative process made him an on-screen household name and a director’s favorite. The Cancer was born on July 13, 1942, in Chicago, Illinois, U.S.A., Ford’s parents Dorothy and Willam Ford, were both former actors. He also has a younger brother named Terrance. As a student, he attended Maine East High School and became the first student voice broadcaster in their school’s radio station. In college, he was a Philosophy major at Ripon College, Wisconsin, and was a member of a fraternity, Sigma Nu.
At the age of 26, Harrison visited Los Angeles to apply for a radio voiceover job, and instead, landed a per-week contract with Columbia Pictures as their new talent for bit roles in the film. His stints connected him to other opportunities where he discovered Universal Studios and was given minor film roles, later on finally earning credits. It was in the 1980s that he met breakthrough success with his roles in the films “Star Wars,” “Indiana Jones,” and “Blade Runner.” These particular films opened doors for him in diversifying his acting range and landing other on-screen projects, up to the present.
