Background

Born on February 22, 1975, in Culver City, California, Drew Blythe Barrymore belongs to the Barrymore family of actors. All of her paternal great-grandparents, paternal grandparents, and parents were actors. Her father, John, is arguably the most successful actor of his generation. Her godmothers are Sophia Loren and Anna Strasberg, while her godfather is the acclaimed director Steven Spielberg.

She began her career with a small role in the film “Altered States” in 1980, followed by Gertie in “E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial” in 1982. The film became the highest-grossing film of the 1980s, making her one of the most famous child actors. In addition, she won a Young Artist Award for best supporting actress.

Due to her sudden fame, Barrymore experienced a troubled childhood. Her constant partying at the age of 13 resulted in her going to rehab. Soon after, she released an autobiography titled “Little Girl Lost,” where she spoke about her drug and alcohol abuse struggle. Between 1990 and 2010, she starred in various commercially successful movies such as “Charlie’s Angels,” “Batman Forever,” “Scream,” and “Fever Pitch,” to name a few.

Barrymore was engaged to Leland the III in 1991, but the engagement was called off a couple of months later. She was then engaged to Jamie Walters for a year from 1992 to 1993. Barrymore married Jeremy Thomas, a Los Angeles bar owner, on March 20, 1994, and filed for divorce less than two months later. She dated Eric Erlandson II in late 1994, followed by Tom Green (M.T.V. host and comedian) in 1999. They got engaged in July 2000 and married a year later. He filed for divorce in December 2001. In 2002, Barrymore dated Fabrizio Moretti, The Strokes drummer. Their relationship ended in January 2007. Next, she began dating Justin Long and they broke up in July 2008. In early 2011, Barrymore dated art consultant Will Kopelman. They announced their engagement in January 2012 and married on June 2, 2012, in Montecito, California. They have two daughters, Olive and Frankie. On July 15, 2016, she officially filed for divorce and finalized it on August 3, 2016.

Along with being a very successful actress, she is the founder of the production company “Flower Films,” which has produced several projects in which she has starred. Her other business ventures include a range of cosmetics under Flower, including lines in perfume and eyewear, a range of wines, and a clothing line. In 2015, a collection of her autobiographical essays were published in a book titled “Wildflower” by E. P. Dutton. In addition, she is currently the host of her own talk show called “The Drew Barrymore Show.”
