Background

Ciara Princess Harris was born in Fort Hood, Texas, the only child of Jackie and Carlton Clay Harris. As the child of a military officer, she had to move many times but during her teenage years, her family finally settled in Georgia, where she formed a girl group named Hearsay with two of her friends. The group, however, parted ways. Despite that, Harris kept working on her music career, landing her a publishing deal as a songwriter. She wrote songs for artists such as Blue Cantrell and Fantasia Barrino. She met producer Jazze Pha and the two worked on demos of songs, such as ‘1,2 Step’ and ‘Thug Style,’ which would later be included in her debut album.

After graduating from high school, she was introduced to music executive L.A. Reid and secured her record deal with LaFace Records in 2003. It was here that she released platinum-status albums and also received four nominations at the 2005 Grammy Awards. In 2006, she made her film debut in the MTV film “All You’ve Got” (2006) but it did not do so well. Her 2009 album “Fantasy Ride” failed to match the sales of her previous releases. The following year, Harris released the album “Basic Instinct,” which gained a fair amount of buzz in the market (2010). In 2013, Harris released her fifth studio album, “Ciara,” with ‘Body Party’ as the lead single. In 2016, she signed a modeling contract with the IMG agency.

Harris dated Bow Wow, an American rapper, but they broke up in 2006. She got engaged to rapper Future and they have a son together — Future Zahir Wilburn, who was born in 2014. In 2015, she started dating NFL player Russell Wilson. The couple got married in 2016 and later gave birth to two children, Sienna Princess Wilson, and Win Harrison Wilson.
