Long before we started celebrating International Skinny Dip Day, which takes place on July 11 this year, swimming in the nude was a thing. Even noteworthy, people like Benjamin Franklin, Henry David Thoreau, and Walt Whitman took part at a time when just the thought of swimming in the nude was considered uncouth and shameful. Back then, they didn’t even have a catchy name for it. It wasn’t until 1947 that the phrase ‘skinny dip’ was first documented or uttered. Today, if you were at a party with friends, no one would react judgemental if someone suggested skinny dipping.
Waqfat Arafat Day

We are celebrating Waqfat Arafat Day on May 26 this year. It is a holy day for all Muslims that is observed on day nine of the last month in the Islamic calendar — ‘Dhul-Hijjah.’ It is also the second day of the Hajj pilgrimage, and it comes one day before Eid al-Adha. Waqfat Arafat Day is mostly celebrated on the hillside of Mount Arafat and the Plain of Arafah. This is the place the Prophet Muhammad chose to give one of his last sermons. The dates of Waqfat Arafat Day are not exact since the Islamic calendar follows the lunar cycle and are based on the sighting of the moon.
National Love Your Skin Day

National Love Your Skin Day is celebrated on July 8. The holiday, introduced by cosmetics company ‘Dermastart,’ aims to get the public interested in building up a skincare routine. The skin is exposed to wear and tear every day, U.V. rays and harsh elements try to strip away its protective layers. The effects of this erosion don’t show immediately, but they build up over time. Small things like moisturizing, using sunscreen, and drinking lots of water go a long way in keeping your skin looking radiant and healthy. Skincare doesn’t have to be a complex, expensive routine.
