International Snail Papers Day

International Snail Papers Day is celebrated on April 7 annually. What exactly are snail papers? It is another term for newspapers. The name comes from the fact that in the age of digital news and social media, they end up reporting news very late by comparison. But still, newspapers remain a popular way to consume news for many people. This day is to honor the newspapers and the people who work hard every day to ensure we get the news.

International Day for Landmine Awareness and Assistance in Mine Action

International Day for Landmine Awareness and Assistance in Mine Action is annually observed on April 4. It recognizes the achievements of the global mine action community and aims to raise awareness about landmines and highlight their dangers. The holiday also seeks to bring attention to other explosive remnants of war — as by bringing attention to the devastation and harm they cause, we can ensure individuals and communities can live and survive in a safe landmine-free environment.

Paraprofessional Appreciation Day

Paraprofessional Appreciation Day comes on April 3 every year. Paraprofessionals are titles given to people from different fields, such as healthcare, education, law, engineering, or human resources. They are supposed to be assistants to the main professionals. Nowadays, though, paraprofessionals are gaining more respect and importance as they are becoming professionals in their own right. They can provide services that meet the needs of particular clients. For example, paralegals, who are licensed by the Law Society of Upper Canada in Ontario, can provide independent legal services to clients and even courts, albeit only in some jurisdictions. They can provide services such as court filings, settlements, auxiliary legal services, and legal research. However, most of the time these services have instructions from a solicitor attached to them.
