The Declaration of the Báb in Shiraz Shavuot is observed annually on May 22. The actual event itself took place on May 23, 1844, but the observation begins two hours and 11 minutes after sunset on the 22nd. A Shi’a Muslim named Mulla Husayn was on a quest to search for the Promised One — a messiah described in the holy scriptures. This led to the formation of the Bahá’í faith, which quickly spread from Shiraz to 200 countries. The principles of the Bahá’í belief are based on the writings of the Báb.
I Need a Patch For That Day

I Need a Patch for That Day is observed every year on May 21. The holiday was created by Thomas and Ruth Roy of Wellcat Holidays & Herbs. It’s a day of imagination and creativity, a day to think up all the fun ways in which patches can be used in our everyday lives. Though it’s pretty cut and dried what patches are often used for, this holiday encourages us to think outside the box and chart new paths of creativity!
National Band Director’s Day

National Band Director’s Day, which is celebrated on May 20, honors the school band directors and conductors who work hard to make students’ experiences at sporting events greater and teach music to budding musicians. The day is an opportunity to thank band directors and recognize the long hours they put into their work. Football games just wouldn’t be the same without the great music played by the school band!
