Linemen Appreciation Day

Lineman Appreciation Day is observed on April 18 every year. This day honors the hard work that women and men put in to keep the power on. These people work around the clock to provide light to family households and any other premises. Lineworkers are truly dedicated since they have to climb hundreds of feet above the ground with precarious harnesses. They also handle live wires that, if improperly handled, can easily lead to them losing their lives in massive jolts of electricity while simultaneously blacking out entire sections of the city. National Lineman Appreciation Day honors those men and women who put their lives at risk to keep the power running through our communities.

International Day for Monuments and Sites

The International Day for Monuments and Sites is observed on April 18 all around the world every year. The goal is to raise awareness of cultural heritage diversity, the vulnerability of sites and monuments, and the measures needed to maintain and conserve them. Every year, the International Council of Monuments and Sites (I.C.O.M.O.S.) sets a theme for initiatives organized by its members, national and international committees, and anyone else interested in commemorating this day. The organization invites participants to focus on contentious and complex narratives about cultural heritage, to encourage the development of new discourses based on a respectful and inclusive approach. Addressing erroneous or contentious historical interpretations appears to be critical to preserving our heritage, given that the deterioration or extinction of any cultural property, as stated by the UNESCO 1954 and 1972 treaties, causes harm to mankind as a whole.

National Piñata Day

National Piñata Day is observed on April 18 each year. No one on this planet doesn’t love candy. You don’t have to stop at just one sweet; instead, go ahead and shatter a colorful candy container known as a piñata to get as much candy as possible. Your birthday party and other celebrations would not have been as successful without the colorfully designed piñata containers. Those who haven’t yet attempted to open a paper-mâché donkey may do so on this National Piñata Day.
