International Universal Health Coverage Day

International Universal Health Coverage Day, observed on December 12, is an international holiday started by the United Nations. The holiday aims to promote affordable and quality healthcare for all citizens of the world. Having access to affordable medicine and treatment is a basic human right that should be available to everyone. This is currently not the case and the U.N. is calling for a change.

World Rainforest Day

World Rainforest Day is observed on June 22 every year across the world. This day is set aside to raise awareness about rainforests and also about all the biotic species that live in them. World Rainforest Day aims to encourage people to learn more about rainforests and join efforts to protect and preserve these forests for generations to come. Rainforests have been disappearing and taking the rich diversity of flora and fauna with them because of increasing deforestation and climate change. World Rainforest Day was instituted to halt this disappearance by reminding people of the importance of rainforests.

International Day of the Celebration of the Solstice

International Day of the Celebration of the Solstice is observed every year on June 21. The holiday was instituted by the United Nations to spread awareness on the solstices across religions and cultures. Numerous cultures and religions celebrate the solstice in their own way. While the interpretations, meanings, and significance of the solstice — when the sun reaches its highest or lowest point in the sky at noon, marked by the longest and shortest days — vary from culture to culture, the International Day of the Solstice is international. The day is during the summer solstice falling between June 20—22.
