Peace Corps Day

Peace Corps Day is a holiday that is always celebrated on March 1. It celebrates the volunteers of the Peace Corps program. The program was established by President John F. Kennedy on March 1, 1961. The mission of the volunteers is to assist underdeveloped countries by using technology to provide economic and social development while at the same time promoting world peace and mutual understanding between Americans and the populations served. Most of the time due to their exposure these volunteers often have teaching, cross-cultural, language, leadership, and community development skills that give them a competitive edge for job opportunities in today’s global economy. Many companies recruit returned Peace Corps volunteers as employees.

Plan a Solo Vacation Day

We celebrate Plan a Solo Vacation Day on March 1 every year. It is an opportunity for you to get out of your mundane everyday life and do something completely new. Think of it as marking one activity from your bucket list. You do not need to call your friends or look for groups to travel with. All you need to do is pack your bags and take the quickest flight out of your daily life. This day is celebrated to remind us that spontaneous solo travels can become the most memorable ones in the end.

National Minnesota Day

National Minnesota Day on March 1 celebrates the 32nd state of the United States of America. A midwestern state bordering Canada, Minnesota is affectionately named “The Land of 10,000 Lakes.” The state is known for its beautiful wilderness, historic sites, and of course, lakes. But that is not all about the state that meets the eye. Anyone with a keen interest will find the museums, culture, and diversity to be as fascinating as the natural landscape itself. If you are interested in nature, arts, and diversity Minnesota might just be the perfect state for you to visit this spring and capture the magnificence of it on a canvas.
