Birth Mother’s Day occurs on the Saturday before Mother’s Day (second Sunday of May) and this year it falls on May 9. It’s a mindful tribute to recognize birth mothers who chose to place their children for adoption. This day also celebrates birth moms who were victimized and coerced into placing their children for adoption as they deserve just as much recognition and support. It takes a special kind of strength to grow a human being inside you, bring them out into the world safely, only to place them into the care of another. So it’s a day not just for adoptees to remember their biological mothers, but for adoptive families to appreciate the women from whom they received their child. National Space Day

We celebrate National Space Day on the first Friday in May, which is May 1 this year. It was created to inspire all of us in the pursuit of knowledge and progress. There’s so much going on in the universe, it definitely deserves a day to reflect on everything! Though it’s unlikely you’ll be able to celebrate in outer space, you can still take part in your own corner of the universe with our gravity-defying facts, figures, and ideas for getting involved this National Space Day.

It’s no news that faith is a big part of American culture. It’s a diverse nation filled with people from various ethnicities with a variety of beliefs. Americans sure are no stranger to faith, and so it shouldn’t be a big surprise that they’ve decided to create a day that has a theme all about these religious diversities (May 1).
