New Holiday Alert: National Sorry I Was on a Boat Today

International Day against Nuclear Tests

International Day against Nuclear Tests

International Day against Nuclear Tests is an annual observance on August 29. The day was established by the United Nations General Assembly at their 64th session on December 2, 2009. Nearly 2000 nuclear weapons tests have taken place since the first one on July 16, 1945. The side effects and dangers of nuclear energy testing to human life were dismissed in the early days, but the magnitude of its destructive nature has been proven time and time again in history. Nuclear weapons are volatile and the world can do without it.

National Black Women’s Equal Pay Day

Institutional racism is a thing, and combating it is a large part of the reason for observing Black Women’s Equal Pay Day, which takes place annually on a date set by a national group of advocates. This year, it takes place on July 27.

In 2020, 226 days passed before African and Black American women had reached that point, without regard to job type and required education. On National Black Women’s Equal Pay Day, let your voice join the courageous activists rallying to influence leaders, disseminate crucial knowledge, and make pay equity a reality.

National Get Gnarly Day

National Get Gnarly Day is celebrated on the last Friday of every July, and this year it will be celebrated on July 29. This is a brand new holiday that has been in existence only since 2016! National Get Gnarly Day offers us an opportunity to toss out old ideas and embrace new ones. Unfortunately, we all know that the word ‘gnarly’ gets a bad rap. Many of us understand ‘gnarly’ as a word that means ‘bad’ or ‘dangerous’ but it can also mean something exciting! Surfers often use the term to describe the unruly waves that they ride. On this day, challenge yourself to add some gnarliness into everything you do.
