Sled Dog Day

Sled Dog Day is celebrated every year on February 2. This is a day set aside to honor the hardest-working dog breed — the sled dogs. These large dogs are trained to wear a harness and pull heavy weights in the coldest regions. They were the only means of transport in areas such as the Arctic for thousands of years and are still the most reliable way to transport supplies in the more rural areas.

Sled dogs played an important role in the exploration of the Arctic and the Antarctic poles and were instrumental during the Alaskan Gold Rush.

National Take the Stairs Day

National Take the Stairs Day is celebrated every second Wednesday in January.  You know what that means: celebrate the day by hitting the stairs. Elevator? What elevator? If you’re interested in taking things up a notch, run around the block or cycle to work. It doesn’t matter what you do, as long as you keep that heart rate up.

Lung health is more important now than ever before. Did you know that over 3.7 million Americans live with chronic lung diseases like asthma or lung cancer? We’re not moving as much as we should. To top it, the air we breathe gets increasingly unhealthy. Some factors may be beyond our control, but staying fit and healthy is entirely in our hands. Take the first steps towards a healthier life today. What matters eventually are the choices we make.

Vitamin C Day

National Vitamin C Day

Vitamin C Day is on April 4 each year. Today, we recognize the gazillion ways vitamin C is good for our body, mind, and soul. This powerhouse of vitamins not only wards off cold but benefits us in several important ways. A regular intake of vitamin C can lower the risk of heart disease and reduce blood pressure. It’s amazing for our skin and hair. What’s more incredible is that it’s abundantly present in some of our favorite foods — tomatoes, oranges, bell peppers, and lemons, to name a few. This National Vitamin C Day, let’s learn something new about this super vitamin. And while we’re at it, let’s give our health a little uplift too!
