History of National Rotate Your Beer Day
National Rotate Your Beer Day was created in 2019 by the Superior Beverage Group — a business as old as 1922. The question is, why did the organization form a day for beer rotation? Well, it’s because beer is among the world’s top three beverages and should be consumed at its freshest taste. Here’s a little history of beer. Before beer took on its current form, brewing emerged 5,000 years ago in Babylonia. During that time, there was no machinery, and beer was created by humans, including the malting process of grains. According to historical data, beer also made its way to Egypt and was brewed there from 3100 B.C. to 2686 B.C. Since beer is healthy, people from different strata started to consume it across Egypt. Beer became such an important part of the culture that many Egyptian tombs have drawings that depict people drinking beer from jars. Several ancient texts hint that the Egyptians also had various types of beer such as dark beer, sweet beer, thick beer, friend’s beer, garnished beer, and beer of the protector. Breweries were built across the region, and women became an important part of the workforce.
The Egyptians also started to export beer to cities nearby during the Hellenistic period. Their tax inspectors even carried the titles, Inspector of the Breweries and Royal Chief Beer Inspector. Unfortunately, when Egypt was taken over by Rome, beer was replaced with wine in the region. However, the love for beer continued to reach other nations, and it became a favorite of people in Gaul and Spain.
