He is known by his stage name, Sting, and he is an English musician, singer, songwriter, and actor. From 1977, Sting was the lead singer for the new-age rock band, The Police. He started his solo career in 1985.

Sting joined Stewart Copeland and Henry Padovani in forming The Police in 1977. The band was together from 1977 to 1983 and during that time they wrote and released five chart-topping albums in the U.K. They also won six Grammy Awards and won two Brit Awards. The band’s most successful song to date is ‘Every Breath You Take’ which was written by Sting. It featured on The Police’s final album “Synchronicity” and the album was nominated for five Grammy Awards in 1983, including the award for Album of the Year. Sting’s first solo album debuted in 1985 and was titled “The Dream of the Blue Turtles.” The album featured several jazz singers, including Kenny Kirkland, Darryl Jones, Omar Hakim, and Branford Marsalis. In 1991, Sting released the album “The Soul Cages” which had a Grammy-winning title track ‘All This Time,’ and it also went platinum.

Sting won a Golden Globe in 2002 for his song ‘Until…’ which was featured in the film “Kate & Leopold.” The song earned Sting his second Academy Award for Best Song. In 2016, he released the album “57th & 9th” which was his first rock album in years. In 2021, he released a compilation album called “Duets.” He released album number 15, titled “The Bridge,” in 2021.
