Lei Melendres

Background

Lei Melendres is an eclectic artist. Although his main focus is digital illustration, he also works with traditional illustration, murals, product design, and toy customization. The 32-year-old artist coined a term for his art style. He calls it the “Infinity Mix” because of the blending of infinite elements and details interacting to form a scene. Melendres serves many local and international clients. He has worked with N.B.A. Store, Samsonite Red Philippines, Capital P.H., Rhinoshield, Asus P.H., Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf, Kipling, Lazada SG, G-Shock P.H., Globe, Daniel Wellington, and W.W.F. Philippines.

Car brands such as Mini Cooper, Mazda Philippines, and Mazda Japan as well as establishments including S.M. MOA, Megaworld, Bonifacio Global City Taguig, ASPACE M.N.L., and American Embassy P.H. also feature on his renowned customer list. Companies like Sharpie, Stabilo, Caran d’Ache, Faber Castell, Tombow, and Dong-A also noticed Lei’s talents and hired him to represent their brand.

Aside from being busy with his illustrations, he spends time promoting the local art scene and helping other local artists by being the head of Doodle Art Enthusiasts. This was the Philippines’ largest doodling community from 2012 to 2019. Under his leadership, Doodle Art Enthusiasts has grown to over 40 clients and more than 2,000 members. He co-founded and is the creative director for “Doodle Arts Magazine.” The publication focuses on promoting the doodle art movement. It later turned into a design agency called Side Hustle Inc. where he worked with a small team to cater to more prominent brands as a creative director.
