Background

Scott Cooke McCreery, more known as Scotty, is an American country music singer whose talents have set him apart in the genre. He was born on October 9, 1993, and his birthplace is Garner, North Carolina. He is of Puerto Rican descent and a Libra by design. McCreery has a sister, Ashley, and they were both raised in Garner. He attended Timber Drive Elementary School, Garner, West Lake Middle School, Apex, and Garner Magnet High School. While in high school, McCreery starred in the school’s production of “Bye Bye Birdie” as Conrad Birdie.

At 16 years old, McCreery auditioned for “American Idol” season 10 in Milwaukee, with ‘Your Man’ by Josh Turner and ‘Put Some Drive in Your Country’ by Travis Tritt. After several weeks in the competition, McCreery entered the finale with Lauren Alaina, a fellow country singer. On May 25, 2011, he was announced as the winner of season 10. Immediately after winning, McCreery released his coronation single, ‘I Love You This Big.’ The song charted at number 32 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart, sold 171,000 units in its first week, and was certified gold by August. McCreery signed with Mercury Nashville and released his debut album, “Clear as Day,” in October 2011. The album debuted at number one on the Billboard 200, making him the first country act to reach the spot with his debut studio album. “Clear as Day” was certified platinum by the RIAA. A Christmas album and several tours later, McCreery released his second album, “See You Tonight,” in October 2013. He parted ways with Mercury Nashville in February 2016 and released a book in May that year. McCreery signed with Triple 8 in November, releasing his single called ‘Five More Minutes’ in May 2017. By September 2021, McCreery dropped his fifth studio album, “Same Truck.”

As a talented American country music singer, McCreery’s personal life is under wraps. He married his girlfriend, Gabi Dugal, in June 2018 and shares his success with his family and friends.
