Nick Lou Saban Jr. was born in Fairmont, West Virginia, on October 31, 1951. He is a football coach; he has been the head football coach at the University of Alabama since 2007. He played quarterback for the West Virginia state championship team in 1968 and 1987; he earned his master’s degree in sports administration from Kent State University. Saban started his coaching career in 1987 at Kent State for the National Football League.

In 1989, the University of Toledo hired Saban, and he began his career as head coach. However, he later resigned as Toledo’s head coach after one season in favor of becoming a defensive coordinator for the Cleveland Browns in the following year. He stayed in that position for four years before becoming the head coach of Michigan State in 1995. While here, his team turned their luck around after almost five years without a win. In 1999, Saban became the head football coach of L.S.U., and he accepted the head coaching position for the Miami Dolphins in 2004. In 2007, Saban announced that he accepted an offer to become Alabama’s 27th head coach. He signed an eight-year contract with Alabama; however, he has been their head coach since and agreed to a contract extension that would run through the 2028 season. Saban is an incredibly talented coach who knows how to lead his teams to victory every year.
