Klay Alexander Thompson, born February 8, 1990, is an American professional basketball player. He plays in the National Basketball Association (N.B.A.) for the ‘Golden State Warriors.’ He was a two-time first-team all-conference selection in the Pac-10 and is the son of former N.B.A. player Mychal Thompson. Golden State selected Thompson as the 11th overall choice in the first round of the 2011 N.B.A. draft. In 2014, he and his teammate Stephen Curry set an N.B.A. record with 484 three-pointers together in a season. As a result, they were dubbed the ‘Splash Brothers.’

Klay Alexander Thompson was born in Los Angeles on February 8, 1990. His parents are Julie and Mychal Thompson. His father was an N.B.A. star while his mother played volleyball in college. Thompson’s family moved to Oregon when he was two. His parents raised him and his brothers as Catholics. The Thompsons later moved to California, where Klay attended Santa Margarita Catholic High School in 2008. In his junior season, he was selected in the ‘All-Area’ second team.
Thompson declared for the 2011 N.B.A. Draft after his junior season. He was selected as the 11th pick overall by the “Golden State Warriors.” At the end of his first season, Thompson was voted into the “N.B.A. All-Rookie Team.”
In 2014, Thompson signed a four-year contract extension with the Warriors. On January 23, 2015, he scored a career-high 52 points, with 11 three-pointers, in a 126–101 win over the Sacramento Kings. He holds the N.B.A. record for points scored in a single quarter with 37. On March 8, 2015, Thompson hit 3 three-pointers against the Los Angeles Clippers to pass head coach Steve Kerr (726) on the N.B.A.’s all-time list. In Game 2 of the N.B.A. Finals against the Cleveland Cavaliers, Thompson scored a playoff career-high 34 points. Golden State later defeated the Cleveland Cavaliers over six games to win the N.B.A. Championship ending their 40-year championship drought. They have since won three championships in total including back-to-back wins in 2017 and 2018. Thompson was an N.B.A.
