Tamia Monique Carter, better known as Flo Milli, was born on January 9, 2000, in Mobile, Alabama. Her mother’s name is Monique Danielle. Milli did not share her father’s name, explaining that he left the family when she was seven years old. She expressed an interest in songwriting at an early age and wrote her first song at the age of nine years old. Milli started rapping a couple of years later when she was 11. For several years, she rapped with a rap group called Pink Mafia, initially known as Real & Beautiful.

She recorded and released her first song, ‘No Hook,’ in 2015. Although she started releasing her music on her SoundCloud and YouTube channels in 2017, it wasn’t until 2018 that she got her big break in the world of rap when she recorded and released her breakout single ‘Beef FloMix.’ The song went viral on multiple social media sites and eventually found its way onto the music streaming service Spotify’s Viral 50 chart the following year. She consequently re-released a fully produced version of the song, and at the end of 2019, she signed on with the record label RCA Records.

Milli continued releasing singles throughout 2019. In mid-2020, she released her first mixtape, “Ho, Why Is You Here?.” The tape was a success and warmly received by critics and fans alike. Later that year, she signed up with a different record label, Pulse Music Group. She also appeared in rapper G-Eazy’s music video for his song ‘Down’ in 2020. At the end of 2020, she was nominated for ‘Best New Artist’ at the BET’s Hip Hop Awards. In 2021, she released another single, ‘Roaring 20s,’ for which she also got nominated in the BET’s Hip Hop Awards ‘Best New Artist’ category.
