Background

Emma Frances Chamberlain is a sensational internet personality and social media entertainer who prides herself on being authentic. She has won awards and has been mentioned among other influential celebrities. Chamberlain was born on May 22, 2001, in San Bruno, California to her father, Michael John Chamberlain, and mother, Sophia Pinetree Chamberlain as an only child. Her parents separated when she was five years old, but were both present in her life growing up. She went to Central Middle School in San Carlos, California, and later on moved to Notre Dame High School, in Belmont. This was a Catholic, preparatory all-girls school. She joined the cheerleading squad and the track team and was actively involved in competitive cheer for five years. She was part of the California All-Stars Pink cheer team. She left high school in the first semester of her junior year and only after passing her California High School Exit Exam, did she graduate.

She felt like high school was no longer serving her purpose during the end of her sophomore year, so she talked to her dad about dropping out. Her father encouraged her to follow her passion, wherever it may lead. She started her YouTube channel. She uses an editing style defined by zooms, adding text to the screen, and pauses. After moving to the Bay Area in Los Angeles, she formed the ‘Sister Squad’ with fellow YouTubers, James Charles and the Dolan Twins. In 2019, they were nominated for the YouTube Ensemble Shorty Award. She had another circle of YouTuber friends, Ellie Thumann and Hannah Meloche, and they dubbed themselves, ‘The Girdies.’ In July 2019, United Talent Agency signed her. In the same year, Snapchat named her one of the influencers who would premiere a Creator Show later the same year. She also won Teen Choice Awards for ‘Choice Female Web Star.’

At the September New York Fashion Week in 2019, she was the host of the Teen Vogue event that was attended by Vogue Editor-In-Chief, Anna Wintour. During the 45th People’s Choice Awards, she got a nomination for the ‘Social Star Award.’ She has also worked with several mega brands, such as Crap Eyewear company, where they collaborated on sunglasses she helped design. She went for her second Paris Fashion Week, sponsored by Louis Vuitton, in partnership with Vogue for a content video about the whole process. She has also worked with Calvin Klein for a sequence of both photo and video shoots. The Snapchat Creator show she was working on premiered on November 4, and it was titled, “Adulting With Emma Chamberlain.” In December, she was interviewed by Olympic personality skater Adam Rippon about her career in a segment broadcast on ABC News, “Nightline.”
