Beef Tallow Day is observed on July 13 every year. Beef tallow is used in candles and soaps; its healthiest use, however, is in cooking. Though largely unknown to the general populace, it is considered a healthier alternative to even canola or vegetable oil. Established by the Healthy Fats Coalition (H.F.C.), the day aims to celebrate healthy animal fat, beef tallow shortening. The former is a new initiative aimed at the inclusion of healthy fats in the conventional American diet. The H.F.C. has been working to change the general perception of Americans toward animal fats and highlight their health benefits.
National Barbershop Music Appreciation Day

We can hear many beautiful voices harmonizing and they’re telling us it’s National Barbershop Music Appreciation Day this July 13. A yearly event to celebrate barbershop music — a style of voice-only, acapella-style music — this day is not to be confused with another barbershop-themed event: National Barbershop Quartet Day. People of all ages, genders, and nationalities come together to perform at various public or private events, singing melodies across genres. In a pop culture world, this day is a little slice of nostalgia, beauty, and authenticity combined.
Mexico: Lawyer’s Day

Mexico: Lawyer’s Day is commemorated on July 12 and was first established in 1960 by President Adolfo Lopez Mateos. It’s a day to recognize not just the lawyers but their work as rights and justice advocates. It marks the day the first chair of law in Mexico was given over by Fray Bartolomé Frías y Albornoz at the Pontifical University. The Diario de México or Mexican Newspaper originally thought to use this date to acknowledge the start of the legal profession in the country.
