World Glaucoma Day

World Glaucoma Day is observed on March 12 every year across the world. This is an important day that seeks to raise awareness about the group of eye diseases known as glaucoma. The day is part of a week of raising awareness about this disease and ensuring that it is caught early. Early detection of glaucoma improves the chances of stopping or at least slowing the disease down with appropriate treatments. The blindness caused by glaucoma is irreversible, but if caught early, the disease can be treated and people will not have to endure the difficulties of blindness when it is preventable.

National Report General Service Administration (GSA) Fraud Day

National Report General Service Administration (GSA) Fraud Day takes place annually on March 6 in the U.S. The day draws the public’s attention to the amount of fraud committed against the G.S.A. government program. It also emphasizes the need for whistleblowers and educates the people on how to claim a substantial reward for reporting G.S.A. fraud. About 10% of the U.S. government spending is lost due to fraud, summing up to $350 billion annually. G.S.A. import fraud is difficult to detect by the G.S.A., creating a need for whistleblowers. “Joel Hesch,” a former U.S. Department of Justice Attorney, started this holiday for the same purpose.

Iraq Day Of Tolerance And Coexistence

Iraq Day of Tolerance and Coexistence takes place on March 6 every year. It is a public holiday, and for that reason, schools and most businesses are closed. The holiday was declared in March 2021 by the Iraqi Prime minister Mustafa Al-Kadhimi. It is a means of promoting peaceful coexistence and encouraging Christians in the country. Prime Minister Al-Kadhimi announced the holiday after the visitation of the pope to the country. The pope and the prime minister had a heart-to-heart talk on religious matters, and it yielded positive results as the new holiday on peace and tolerance emerged.
