The Vermont State Police have arrested two suspects, Jonathan Luciano and Ailyah Santos, in connection with the December 2025 overdose death of a 24-year-old Williamstown woman. The investigation found that the drugs that caused the woman's death were provided by Luciano and Santos, who were subsequently charged with selling/dispensing a regulated drug with death resulting, as well as fentanyl and cocaine trafficking charges.

Troopers from the Berlin Barracks executed a search warrant on the Barre residence of Luciano and Santos on February 4, 2026, where they found 259 bags of fentanyl, 52 grams of cocaine base, and a handgun. Luciano and Santos were arrested and charged with selling/dispensing a regulated drug with death resulting, as well as fentanyl and cocaine trafficking.
