CM, WHS swimmers qualify for district meet

Nine local swimmers from Clinton-Massie and Wilmington High Schools qualified for the Ohio High School Athletic Association southwest district meet at Miami University on Friday, February 20. The Clinton-Massie boys and girls teams qualified their 200-yard and 400-yard relay teams, and several individual swimmers also qualified in various events.

The Clinton-Massie girls qualified their 200-yard and 400-yard relay teams, with Malea Beam, Elise Dennis, Ellie Smith, and Erin Belisle making up the teams. Smith set a school record with a third-place finish in the 100-yard breaststroke, Belisle won the 50-yard freestyle and placed sixth in the 100-yard freestyle, and Beam finished third in the 500-yard freestyle and seventh in the 200-yard freestyle. On the boys' side, the Clinton-Massie relay teams also qualified, with Luke Hensley, Mack Hensley, James Toller, and Jack Clark. Clark won his sectional and placed second in the 500-yard and 200-yard freestyle events. Wilmington's Aidan Benitez qualified in the boys' 500-yard freestyle with a fifth-place finish.
