Season 29 of the NBC singing competition show 'The Voice' is already underway, with just one more episode remaining of the Blind Auditions. Then, those selected to compete on Team Kelly, Team Adam and Team Legend will move onto round two: The Battles. For this stage, the coaches have enlisted the help of some familiar faces, including past winners, fan-favorites, and even former coaches, to serve as advisors and mega mentors.
Why it matters
The return of past 'Voice' stars as advisors, mentors, and competitors adds an extra layer of excitement and nostalgia to the show, as viewers will get to see how these artists have grown and evolved since their initial appearances. It also provides an opportunity for the current contestants to learn from and be inspired by those who have found success through the show.
The details
For The Battles, Good Charlotte's Benji Madden is teaming up with coach Adam Levine, R&B singer Muni Long is helping John Legend, and Jennifer Hudson, who was a coach on Seasons 13 and 15, will reunite with Kelly Clarkson. During the Knockouts, two-time 'Voice' champion Michael Bublé will work with Team Kelly as a mega mentor, while original 'Voice' coach CeeLo Green will serve as the mentor for Team Adam and Team Legend. The Knockouts will also feature a new twist called the 'In-Season All Star Competition', where each coach will bring back two fan-favorite musicians who competed on their teams in previous seasons to go head-to-head in sing-offs.
- The next episode of 'The Voice: Battle of Champions' airs on Monday, March 9 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on NBC.
