Wine Spectator is bringing its Grand Tour event to Denver this weekend, giving wine lovers the chance to taste more than 200 wines that have received a 90-point or higher rating from the publication. The event, which will be held at the Sheraton Hotel, features wines ranging in price from $24 to $320 per bottle. In addition to the general admission tickets, the event is also offering a special "Young Connoisseur" ticket for attendees aged 21-30.

Why it matters

Colorado's wine sales have hit a 10-year low, but the Grand Tour event aims to expose Denver's robust culinary and wine-loving scene to some of the best wines from around the world. The event also represents an opportunity for younger wine drinkers, like those in Gen Z, to expand their palates and discover new wines.

What they’re saying

“'A lot of times when people want to get into the U.S. wine market, they go to the obvious cities, New York, Los Angeles, Chicago. But what we're trying to do is to look at some cities that have a really robust culinary scene to plenty of wine lovers.'”

— Mary Ann Worobiec, Napa Bureau Chief, Wine Spectator

“'Kids today growing up — drinking kombucha and coconut water and having sushi at their grocery store. I'm Gen Xer and that wasn't available to me when I was growing up. So generations behind me are coming to the world with much more informed palates.'”
