Lake County High School Track and Field Team Excels at Invitationals

Panthers earn multiple medals and set personal records at KC Logan and Eagle Valley Invitationals

The Lake County High School track and field team returned to action in late March, competing at the KC Logan Invitational in Berthoud and the Eagle Valley Invitational. Despite the cold and windy conditions, the Panthers performed well, earning several medals and setting numerous personal records across a variety of events.

The details

At the KC Logan Invitational, Devyn Sterkel set a new personal record in the pole vault, clearing 13 feet, 2 inches and placing second. Jaren Peters earned a medal in the 800-meter run, finishing third, and also threw a PR in discus. Nathanael Granillo placed fourth in both hurdle events. The men's 4x400-meter relay team took second, and the coed throwers' relay team finished first. On the women's side, Zoey Sweet set a PR in the shot put and won the exhibition javelin competition. At the Eagle Valley Invitational, Sterkel again won the pole vault, Jaren Peters had a PR in the shot put, and Nathanael Granillo ran under 18 seconds in the 110-meter hurdles for the first time. Hattie Mallozzi took third in the 3,200-meter run. Many other Panthers set personal bests across a range of events.
